Auflader - Then and Now - an interview with the megamind behind "A Death Worth Dying" - Bangladeshi Melodic Death

DIM: Hello Auflader! It's really great to have you guys here in our little discussion, and I am really glad to say that this is my first ever interview of a band from my very own country, Bangladesh!

and with Bangladesh comes a real wonder, how do you guys manage to metal up piercing through all the hardships of a growing scene?

Auflader: It's our pleasure to be part of Deathinmelody, we think you guys are doing a wonderful job in promoting melodic death metal especially when it comes to Bangladesh. Like most bands in our scene we had a lot of hardships, particularly when promoting something that's new. Most of us also had other commitments such as work, studies so it was a real challenge. What helped us was the love for our music. We enjoyed whenever we got together, whether it was just covering songs early on, or composing our own materials. The enormous support from the crowd and seniors, especially Duray bhai, helped us release the track and do live shows.

q1. Tell us something about Auflader, the brainchild behind you guys.

Answer 1. The initial idea was formed my brother Shams A A Chowdhury and I, Shams A N Chowdhury. Growing up together we always admired Melodic Death Metal and we wanted to find band mates with similar inspirations as well.

q2. Since we see, there are thriving thrash and death metal bands in Bangladesh, specially Dhaka, how did you guys manage to blend to a rare genre like this? Can you name some big inspirations?

Answer 2. The crucial factor here was the members. All of us had an unquestionable love towards melodic deathr metal. When we actually formed the band we knew each other and covered songs from various genres including thrash and death metal songs. We are heavily influenced by In Flames, Arch Enemy, Kalmah, Insomnium, Quo Vadis to name a few. These bands were common favorites amongst all of us.

q3. Tell us something about the mighty single A Death Worth Dying. It's lyrical concepts.

Answer 3. A Death Worth Dying is heavily inspired by the Egyptian history of The Pharao Ramses II. A nation ruled by a tyrant and the struggle that it has to go through because of his cruelty and torture. A savage barbaric ruler spreading insanity claiming himself to be God. But the song is also about hope, that someday the nation will get rid of this cruel tyrant. Even if it costs lives. A death that is worth dying

q5. As you know, you have grown many curious fans who are still wondering about Auflader's whereabouts. Can you tell us something about the hiatus of the band or the sudden lethargy?

Answer 5. This is one incident that we never wanted to happen. Our band was really tight when we were active; the primary reason for our hiatus is relocation of our band members. Currently all of us are in different countries, which makes it really hard to give any input towards the band.

q6. What are your future plans? Do we have a hope that we will see a reunited Auflader soon with new materials?

Answer 6. Auflader is still there and we hope to be back in the scene one day, but unfortunately we can't do live shows anytime soon. However, we have a few other unfinished tracks which needs to be completed and then we can release them over the coming period.

q7. Tell us something about the international responses Auflader has received.

Answer 7. We were quite surprised to see foreign fans reach out to us through our facebook page and showing their suport for us. Really got us thinking that we might have actually done something good. Earlier this year we were also contacted by a metal radio station from Las Vegas who wanted to talk about the potential of A Death Worth Dying and they wanted the song to be played in their station.

q8. Can you explain the meaning of "Auflader" ?

Answer 8. Auflader is a word with German origins which simply 'Supercharged'.

q9. Are you interested to tour outside Dhaka someday? Or say outside Bangladesh if opportunity knocks?

Answer 9. Most definitely. Touring is an experience that really teaches you a lot of responsibility. It is the best way to spread the music and explore new places. If the opportunity knocks then hell yeah to touring, outside or inside Bangladesh.

q10. Name one word that would describe the whole Auflader philosophy.

Answer 10. If I had to use just one word it would be exuberance. Whenever we get together, whether it is the practice pad or for the shows, the whole team is full of energy and enthusiasm. We hope to carry it on.... always.

DIM wishes you all the best.

Deathinmelody Featuring Marco Sneck (Ex - Kalmah, Poisonblack) - A chat about life and melody.

1. Hello Sir, it's an honor for DEATHINMELODY to have you with us today. We are really privileged to have your precious time, how are you doing?

Sneck : Greetings! Nice to have a talk with you. All is fine in Finland, everything is blossoming since winter is stepping away and spring rolling in.

2. As we all know, you have been inspiring many around the globe as a musician. Sometimes young musicians who are on the learning process becomes frustrated easily.  Can you tell something about your childhood, about your very first band Ferocia and your journey afterwords?

Sneck: I saw a rap-duo of my age in the TV when I was a teenager and got inspired to play and make music myself. Loaned a minikey-sized Casio from my cousin and started pressing the keys. Eventually learned some melodies and started making my own. I think this was in 92 or something. In 1995 my friend asked me to play keys in a band called Dark Divine, later named Ferocia. Style was something like Cradle of filth, well atmospheric dark metal anyway. When in -99 I moved to Oulu I got in touch with many bands. Since then, it has been mostly Metal.

3. What are your favorite things or hobbies you do on your leisure time except music?

Sneck: Is there something besides, haha! Well, family-stuff like wife and dogs. Also I'm into computer stuff. I do some gym too if motivation is on, not lately though…

4. Besides rock and heavy metal, are there any other genres or styles of music that you blend your taste into?

Sneck: Progressive and classical music. Radio hits of pop and whatever style works for me too.

5. As we all know, you have continued a long journey with Kalmah, can you tell us some of your memorable Kalmah moments?

Sneck: Live shows, like a couple of tours we did  in Canada, were great since people went crazy on concerts and were super nice overall.

6. If there's a song to pick from Kalmah as your favorite, which song would you go for?

Sneck: This would be "they will return". My absolute favorite. The previous keyboardist Pasi had a nice, different style than my own. Btw, if you want to hear a solo duel between me and Pasi,  search for band Burning Point and song ”holier than thou”.

7. My favorite Kalmah solo has been the keyboard solo in the song Sacramentum, can you tell us something about that or the philosophy behind writing it?

Sneck: As I wrote the song, I wanted it to be EPIC so to speak. The solo needed to fit that atmosphere. It ended up having nice melodies and of course some shredding aswell.

8. Which song of Kalmah you enjoyed the most while playing live shows?

Sneck: Besides "they will return" I would pick "heroes to us". People went crazy every-time playing it. Like the beginning of the song, its very powerful and just demands your hands in the air!

9. As we all know you had been working with Poisonblack where the band had recently announced the its stop last year. Can you tell us something more about the decision?

Sneck: It was a journey for 15 years, so a long great trip. We were a band that got each others backs, in that sense it was very special. I think Ville who founded the band wanted some time to think what he wants to do with music.

10. What will be your favorite song from Poisonblack?

Sneck: There would be many, but "Only you can tear me apart" would be on the top of the list. It also has nice soloes in it.

11. What are your thoughts on Scandinavian melodic death metal scene? is it the same like it used to be ?

Sneck: It has so much more variety than like 15-20 years ago. Natural evolution I guess. Its easy to hear what is scandinavian made. Theres always a certain ”ring” to it. Going strong and why not.

12. If you are to define the term "Melodic Death Metal", what would be your statement?

Sneck: I'd say the power of it is in ear-candy melodies combined with fast-pace and aggressive instrumentation.

13. What do you like the most from the Melodic death metal suub-genre? Can you name some of your favorite melodic death metal artists?

Sneck: Not sure what fits the genre but to name a few, Amon Amarth and Wintersun would be something to listen to.

14. Can you tell us something about the recent crisis artists are facing due to piracy? Do you prefer digital distribution (which is easily reproducible) over physical releases?

Sneck: I'm a cd-guy myself, like if I make an album or my favorite band releases an album, I need and want it as in form of cd. Of course it’s also good to have it in digital form. Times are harsh but you just gotta adjust to it. Waiting for new innovations to come.

15. Can you tell us how you manage your time when band routine conflicts with your personal plans?

Sneck: So far I've managed to do 99% of the music stuff. It takes some good planning and focus and of course understanding from the people close to you.

16. What are your favorite gears and gadgets that you like to use?

Sneck: I've been using Roland gear for many years. My set up used to be a master keyboard controller and some modules because not many devices were able to do seemingless sound change. Currently I use the latest workstations of Roland. My aim is to have  only one keyboad that can make it all happen.

17. Tell us something about your current activities with Afterworld, Stargazery and THE MAN-EATING TREE (TMET).

Sneck: The third album of Afterworld has been in the making for so many years, hope to finalize it soon. I parted ways with Stargazery last year, but we did two great albums of kind of 80's melodic metal. With TMET we have began to set our eyes to the fourth album. Its on very early stage at this moment though.

18. You have also worked with Maldivian Nothnegal, what were your experiences with them?

Sneck: It has been great time, very nice guys these islanders! For example we shot a music video and played a show in Male. Also did a festival show in India and an european tour supporting Finntroll. Great memories!

19. There's a huge number of fans of you in Asian countries and where I come from, Bangladesh. Are you familiar with the scene ?

Sneck: I've noticed this and its great since the people seem to be young and enthustiatic, so future is secured and that is good. Musically I dont know many bands from this region. Ionic bond is one that I remember, have you heard of it? haha!

20. What are your future plans?

Sneck: Besides these mentioned bands, I have been preparing a kind of my own band consisting solely of my material and songs. Its been pretty much recorded so I’m trying to finalise it all. Musically its my dearest genre, like neoclassical symphonic power/fantasy-metal. Hope to release more info as soon as possible!

Sir Marco Sneck has been a very dominant musician in the metal world. He has been active in Finnish metal scene and has worked with many prominent bands. Besides Kalmah, and the aforementioned metal acts, he has also appeared in the Guilt and Regret song from Sentenced album The Cold White Light in 2002.

Deathinmelody team feels privileged and honored to feature such enthusiastic big name and prays for the long life and prosperous career of Marco.

"Creeping Time", Misteyes to release the full fledged album this April 8th, 2016 - A chat with Irmin about the new album

Hello Readers and welcome again to our 8th episode of Deathinmelody Interviews. Today we have Misteyes on the house, who are one of the most prominent and promising act from the hometown Torino,Italy. The band has recently announced their full-length release entitled Creeping Time, where they are featuring Björn Strid (Soilwork) and Nicole Ansperger (Ex - Eluveitie) on the record.

Deathinmelody:
Hello Irmin, greetings from the Deathinmelody community. We are really excited about the new album. Before readers get to know about the album can you at first can you tell us about your initial journey and a brief history of Misteyes?

Irmin : Hi! Thanks for this space! Yes, I'm Irmin, one of the two singers of the band. In 2012 I met Insanus, Decadence (the two guitar players) and the drummer Krieger that wanted to start a band with influences from melodic death metal to black and doom metal. With this five member line-up we released the single "Brains In A Vat" in 2013. In 2014 the band started a deep evolution of the sound with the adding of more melodic and symphonic elements, given also by the entry of the two new members Ainwen (female vocals) and Hyde (keyboards). With this line-up we had many shows and we worked hard for the writing of new songs and then for the recordings in the studio and now we are finally ready to release out first full-length album!

Deathinmelody: Can you tell us the significance behind the genre Light and Dark Metal? Can you tell us something about the lyrical elements of the prospected album?

Irmin: Well, since the beginning during the writing of the first songs we understood that our music is a quite unusual mixture of sub-genres. As every existing definition couldn't perfectly fix with our music, we decided to create our own one. "Light and Dark" is referred to the contrast between two entities that are always present in our songs: the softer side characterized by the female vocals and by the gothic, symphonic and melodic influences and the heavier side with the growl/scream vocals, the black/death guitar riffs and the dark and obscure atmosphere.   Talking about our lyrics,  they are mainly about philosophical and introspective subjects. In particular, those of this album are focused on the passage of time and for this reason we decided to call the album "Creeping Time".

Deathinmelody: How far has the work of the album proceeded till now? Can you hint us about the elements you are going to unleash in Creeping Time?

Irmin: The works on the album are already finished and we are going to release it on April 8th under the Canadian label Maple Metal Records. It is a very varied album, there you are going to find both ballads and heavier songs with many influences. However we think that every song of the album has the typical trademark of the Misteyes sound: the use of two opposite kind of vocals, male growl/scream vocals and female clean and opera vocals (with equal importance within the tracks), a very refined job of orchestrations that reminds to the epic and horror soundtracks, heavy death and black riffs, a very unique use of both fretted bass (for the heavier parts) and fretless bass (for the more melodic parts) and a very modern sound of the drums.

Deathinmelody: As we all know, Misteyes is featuring two renowned major artists around the globe, none other than Björn Strid (Soilwork) and Nicole Ansperger (Ex - Eluveitie). Tell us something about your experience working with them.

Irmin: Yes, it was really amazing having Björn and Nicole on our album, a dream that came true! It was really easy to work with them, they both are very nice people and, above all, extremely talented musicians! Talking about Björn, I was talking with him, asking him some advices for my voice techniques and in that period we were searching for a male vocalist to add a little more modern sound to one of our songs, so I could not miss this opportunity and I asked him. When he listened to the pre-production version of the song he was enthusiastic and he did a fantastic job adding his own personal style to the song! For Nicole the story was quite similar, we wanted to add some violin tracks and a violin solo on the last track of the album. I didn't know Nicole personally but I knew the great work she did for Eluveitie, so I decided to write to her. Since the first messages I understood she was the right person! We gave her complete freedom to write the violin lines and we were really stoked when she sent back the tracks done!

Deathinmelody: What is your perception on the local scene and issues with underground music?

Irmin: The underground metal scene here in Italy is very present but it has also many problems. First of all there are too many bands and too many bands doing the same kind of music without trying to experiment something new. On the other hand, the people attending underground shows are fewer and ferwer. People go to shows only because they are friends of the band members and not because they like their music, so there's not much meritocracy and autoselection of the best bands.

Deathinmelody: Are you planning to tour after the album release? or any further plans?

Irmin: No, we have not planned a proper tour for now. At this time we prefer making a selection of unique shows and festivals. On April 10th there will be the release party of the album in our hometown Turin and then we are having other shows and festivals in Spring and Summer in
Italy. The other plans for the immediate future are to promote the album in every way possible! We are going to release some official and lyric videos and a new great photo-shoot!

Deathinmelody: Can you tell us the mastermind behind the awesome artwork of Creeping Time?

Irmin: Sure! It is the result of the work of the great and well-known Italian artist Design Overload (Alessandro "Dooms" Alimonti). He did an amazing job that perfectly evokes what you are going to expect for both the musical part and the lyrical themes of the album. He also created the booklet and most of the graphic works for our socials!

Deathinmelody: Can you name inspirations behind your music career, and those who inspired Misteyes?

Irmin: Personally talking, my first inspirations as a growl/scream vocalist can be find in melodic death metal, especially Dark Tranquillity. Then I started expanding my musical background to different subgenres in the extreme metal with bands like Death, Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Lamb Of God, Kataklysm, Novembers Doom, Graveworm and many others.  Talking about Misteyes is more difficult, 'cause our influences are many and they are the sum of the inspirations for each member of the group. However most of the bands that influenced our sound can be find both on melodic and symphonic metal bands like Epica, After Forever or Kamelot, but also extreme metal bands like Cradle Of Filth, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh and a little bit of the doom melancholic melodies of bands like Candlemass or Draconian.

Deathinmelody: As we know, you work with another band Gotland, can you tell us something about it?

Irmin: Yes, I met the guys of Gotland two years ago when with Misteyes we opened for two of their shows. Since then I was fascinated by their music, both for the way they manage to maintain the power of extreme black/death metal even adding epic and melodic influences, but also for their evocative lyrics talking about the clash between the Roman Empire and the Barbarians, a subject I have always been fond of. So when, some months later, they were searching for a new singer I proposed myself and I have started playing with them since July 2015. The band has been active since 2007, so for me it was an hard challenge to replace the original singer who had been with them for 8 years! For now, we are still having shows to promote their fantastic album "Gloria Et Morte" (released in 2014), but at the same time we are working on some amazing new material, so if you are interested on an epic/extreme metal band with historical lyrics, follow us!

Deathinmelody: In your perception, what brings perfection to a band?

Irmin : That's a very hard question. I'll not talk about the music in particular ('cause it's too subjective), but at least the sound has to be original and not a mere copy of another band. However to reach perfection, in my opinion, the members have to take care also of all the other aspects of the band: good graphics, professional videos and photo-sets, a very good stage presence, the merchandise and they also should behave in a professional way in the socials and interacting with fans!

Thank you for your time Irmin, we wish you a very successful launch of the new album and waiting eagerly for the mighty masterpiece!

কৃত্রিম পৃথিবী ("Synthetic Earth") - A talk about Hallucination - First MDM Act to release a full length over Bangladesh

Deathinmelody : Can you introduce yourself to the readers please?

Tanvir : My pleasure Hisham, I am Tanvir the vocals, Audio Engineer and the producer of the band.  Hallucination was formed in March 2010. At first we were a thrash metal band we covered Megadeth and Lamb of God. If I can recall properly after 6-7 months of formation we found out that Melodic Death metal represents of who we are.  Our First Single “Dhikkar”was released on 25th November 2011 in a band mixed album called “The First Arena” and later on we released our debut album “Krittim Prithibi” on 21st June 2013 from Incursion music which was released Digitally and then after a year the album was physically released worldwide from an International Label named Satanica Productions of New Zealand on 7th march 2014.  We had a lot of changes in the line up from the formation but we still got it going on. The band consists of Wahid Uz Zaman Turjo on Bass, Tushar and Raied on Guitars, Hasan on Keyboards and Synths, Rakil Alam as a guest drummer and Mushfiq as our manager and lyricist.

Deathinmelody: As we know Hallucination is a melodic death metal, how did you come up with this style of music?

Tanvir : Influence is a big part when anyone is about to start composing, playing and writing music. In our case Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Arch Enemy and Kamelot heavily influenced us. When we started Hallucination the main idea was to concentrate on the melody. It didn’t matter if we are a heavy metal, grunge rock or even progressive rock later in the coming years from the formation. Thus when we practiced and practiced and Practiced!!! We found that melodic death metal represents us of who we actually are.

Deathinmelody: Can you name some good melodic death metal songs that are your very favorites?

Tanvir : There are a lot of good melodic death metal songs that are our favourites but these songs that um stating below was the game changer for us.
Every Time I Die, The River Flows Frozen, Prophetian and obviously ours ha ha.

Deathinmelody: Tell us about your debut album "Kritrim Prithibi", about the success of the release and   it's contents.

Tanvir: The album Krittim Prithibi is still and will be always closest to our hearts. Making the album was a challenging one for us because we wanted to represent our emotions of the band through this album, which we did. The Album consists of 9 tracks and each and every track has its own story.  Like as in the song Shesh Juddho asks every Bangladeshis a question. The album featured some prominent musicians of our country like Foysal Ahmed Tanim aka Bass king of Shrapnel Method and Avoid Rafa, Shakil Alam of Old School and Circle of the 6th and Monowarul hoque Moni from Opodeb. We didn’t release the album physically in Bangladesh because of piracy and the most important part we don’t want to give away our hard work for free. But we did it digitally. We are really proud to say this that we are the first band in Bangladesh who has released a full-length album Digitally and the albums were purchased through Bkash, Bank Cards for those in Bangladesh. And later on it was released internationally on Itunes and other digital platforms. On the day we released the album we unveiled the album live on a national radio programme and the appreciation we got from all over Bangladesh were huge which was totally unexpected in-spite of being a Melodic Death Metal Band.  Later on after a year our album Krittim Prithibi despite of being a Bengali album it was released worldwide from Satanica Productions of New Zealand which was big achievement for us, our fans and our well wishers which I believe have pushed Bengali Melodic Death Metal a little bit further.

Deathinmelody: Can you pick up one favorite number from the album?

Tanvir: The title itself “Krittim Prithibi”

Deathinmelody: Hallucination had been inactive for a long in sense of writing materials, can you let us know the reasons for this lethargy?
anvir : It’s mainly because of me coming to abroad. As you certainly know that a band is a family if a person comes out of it doesn’t remain the same. And everyone is busy with their personal lives.  But we are writing for our next and last record and we are coming with a bang that’s for sure.

Deathinmelody: Is there any follow-up plan after the debut album?

Tanvir: We did a couple of gigs after release with a guest vocal as me (Tanvir) had to come to New Zealand for my Higher Studies In Audio Engineering And After that for the last 2 years the band went to hibernation as every one became busy with their personal lives. But we are working on next album maybe that will be our last record as Hallucination.

Deathinmelody: How do you find yourself and your sound competing with Bangladeshi audience acceptance?
Tanvir : It was literally hard when I came to New Zealand, as melodic death metal is still a new genre to our country but we got a relatively good experience  from the critics with our sound. But last year with the release of Ionic Bond’s Amavashya Lore I have a strong feeling that its gonna go way beyond and establish melodic death metal in Bangladesh.

Deathinmelody:  As we see the debut has  been on Bangla language. Are you planning to write any English tracks? any plans to stretch the materials to overseas?

Tanvir: We had one English track in out debut album namely Smile of Death. Yes we have stretched out to overseas with our debut one and we certainly will do it for the next one as well. We are recording our next one at SAE Studios New Zealand and this time Sounds are going to be way better.

Deathinmelody : Name one word that describes all Hallucination creations.

Tanvir : Melody.

Deathinmelody: Thank you for your time. We wish you and the cruising Hallucination all the best!

Tanvir : Thank You Hisham we wish the very best.

Tampa Melodic Death Metallers - Wirethrone - A gossip with guitarist James Harper

Hello fellow melodic death metal fanatics. We have Wirethrone with us tonight, hailing from the volcanic hearts of Tampa, Florida, United States. The very name of Tampa gives us chills about the very extreme metal, as a flourishing place for thrash and death this has been a very heaven for metal-heads around the globe. Tonight we talk with the guitarist of the band, Mr. James Harper.

Deathinmelody : Hello James! How are you doing? We welcome you and Wirethrone to our online interview sessions.

James : Hello Deathinmelody! I'm doing great thanks for asking. Thank you for reaching out, it's honor to conduct this interview

Deathinmelody : Since this is a chitchat about Wirethrone today, Let us know about it's very birth!

James : Well it started in 2011. I was playing drums in a band called Sanctum, and we had some members leave. I switched over to guitar and we changed our name, our image, and our style of playing, and thus Wirethrone was born. Back then we had a third guitarist and a different drummer and bassist.
Soon after we released "The Architect", we went on a hiatus for a little over a year. Josh Delgado, our former drummer Kris, and myself eventually reformed in the summer of 2014, added two members in Adam Mehdova and Chris Horan on guitar and bass respectively. We decided to drop the
three guitar act and change our style and sound to a more aggressive feel to it. The lyrics for the new album are more personable and relatable than the first album as well. I personally like the style change. Then in 2015 we released the album "The Sun Betrays Us To The Night" on our YouTube channel, and started playing some shows! Our drummer Kris departed and was replaced
by James Smith. Right now we are gearing up to release our sophomore album.

Deathinmelody : I have heard the latest single "A Rebirth" and that is one awesome track. Loved it. I can hear Scandinavian melodic death metal influences on it. Am I right? Can you name some of your greatest motivations to play melodic death metal?

James : I am very influenced by Scandinavian melodic death metal, more so by the Gothenburg bands such as In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquility. You can definitely hear those bands in my playing, but if you dig deep enough into our sound, you'll be surprised to hear some other bands that are
on the more prog/djent style such as The Contortionist. If our album was the main course, our ingredients are "A Sense of Purpose" and "Clayman" by In Flames, "Stabbing the Drama" by Soilwork, "Fiction" and "Damage Done" by Dark Tranquility, and "Exoplanet" by The Contortionist. Adam
brings a plethora of different influences to Wirethrone as well, mainly punk and classic thrash styles. It's wonderful mix of Gothenburg and American metal.

Deathinmelody : Underground music strives through many hurdles to get it's tunes to the hungry ears, tell us about hardships Wirethrone has to go through throughout it's journey?

James : It is very difficult for a melodic death metal band to capture listening ears these days, especially in Florida where young ears are more in-tuned to hardcore, metalcore, and djent. Thankfully, we have a pretty great scene down here. Bands of different types of genres can play shows and
coexist without any problems. Mainly our problem stems from not enough promotion through social media for our style. I'm sure it's out there, I just haven't found it yet. However, we do have Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud accounts that you can check out!

Deathinmelody : Can you recall your best moments with Wirethrone?

James : Best moment so far would probably be opening up for Angel Vivaldi. The show was stacked with great bands and it was one of our best sets yet and the crowd was great. There's a YouTube video of our performance floating around on YouTube, and you can hear the crowd chanting for us. That is by far
my favorite moment.

Deathinmelody : What was your experience on the gig where you opened for Fleshgod Apocalypse?

James : The Fleshgod show was absolutely incredible. It was the first time Wirethrone played in another city since we got back together, so we were very excited for this one. We were the opening band, but the show was completely sold out and packed wall to wall with people. The sound was great, the crowd was into it, and
we had a blast. All the bands on the show were incredible to say the least. Carach Angren and Abigail Williams were just as great as Fleshgod. All in all it was an amazing show, and I thank Camden Cruz from Seven Kingdoms for putting us on it.

Deathinmelody : How would you describe the Tampla mdm scene?

James : There aren't too many melodeath bands in Tampa, just a few. It's not as popular as the Core or Brutal Death Metal scene. However, we're diverse enough to play with just about any metal band in Tampa.

Deathinmelody : My personal favorite Wirethrone number is The Architect. Can you tell us something about the song?

James : It was co-written by myself and a former member of Wirethrone back in 2011. Once the line up change occurred, we stopped playing it live. We shot a music video for it as well. We plan on releasing that song along with the entire album for free download on our Bandcamp very soon!

Deathinmelody : Can you tell us how you guys write up songs? Does it come as a concoction from all of the members or is it a single brainchild behind individual songs?

James : Typically what happens when writing songs, is I'll come up with few riffs or an idea of a song and present it to the rest of the guys. Adam is fantastic lead guitarist and writes some catchy melodies, so I get pretty excited to present a new song to him. Chris is an excellent bass guitarist. He and Smith are really
in sync when it comes to groove. For drum parts, I write a back bone of what I think sounds and flows well, but ultimately Smith writes his own parts. I cannot express how great of a drummer he is, and he manages to surprise me every time we practice. I write most of the lyrics and help Josh with the vocal melodies.
The upcoming album is conceptual, following a story based on love, loss, betrayal, and triumph. It may seem like a one man show, but all the members of Wirethrone play an essential role in the writing process.

Deathinmelody : Since we all know the extreme metal scene has a DIY culture, have you been following that in sense of recording, mixing and mastering?

James : The first album was recorded by Matt Johnson of Revelation studios and mastered by Lee McKinney of Born of Osiris. This time around, we are doing everything in house. Chris owns a professional home studio has a degree in audio engineering. Not only that, but we all have an ear for the ideal Wirethrone sound. We like
big vocals and big melodies with pounding drums behind it. We found our niche and I feel that we are proficient in producing it in the recorded material.

Deathinmelody : Tell us about your future plans.

James : First thing is get the second album finished and released! Keep your eye out for it, it's going to have a couple of big surprises involved in it. Also, we would liked to get signed to major label like Metal Blade, or Nuclear Blast. I know most bands nowadays want to stay away from the big label and the debt that comes with it,
however, if bands are smart with their money, a label can be a great tool to utilize. Lastly, we want to tour!

Deathinmelody : Thank you for your time James, Deathinmelody yells for Wirethrone and melodic death metal, up the throne!

James : No sir, thank you!

Necroart - Suicidal Dark Metal Mercenaries hailing from Pavia, Italy

Hello Readers! Welcome back to the blog and this time we are featuring one of the most promising, uniquely evolved metal bands of all time, Necroart!. The trio full length mighty act raging from Italy was featured recently on our interview where Mr.Max, vocalist of Necroart spoke about him and the band.

Deathinmelody : Hello mighty Necroart! It's a real pleasure to have you in our gossip today, How are you all doing?

Max : - Hi Nice to meet you all, everything is going fine, after a year of gigs all along Italy to promote our last album "Lamma Sabactani" we've entered the studios to compose our fourth album!

Deathinmelody: Can you first introduce yourself to the readers if you don't mind.

Max:  My pleasure! I'm Max, singer of the band, I formed Necroart in 1999 to play a blackened death metal in th swedish style, but through the years we've passed by line -up changes an some other influences, today we love to call our music DARK Metal, because inside our songs you can find some different kind of influences (some black metal, old style death metal, doom...)
The band includes also Davide and Filippo on the guitars, Daniele on bass, Paolo on drums and Riccardo on synth/noises and drones

Deathinmelody : Can you tell us the sole reason behind choosing this sub-genre of heavy metal music?

Max: - It's simple, we all love that kind of music; we've grown with it and it's what we like and play most! I cannot imagine a Necroart song without killer riffs, growling vocals or horror atmospheres.

Deathinmelody : Now that's really awesome. Can you name some major influences who brought you to play this kind of music?

Max : - In our music I think you can find various influences, from Moonspell to Arcturus to Sadness or At the Gates...all the bands we listen to may become influence...I invite all of you to check our music and find the influence you think.

Deathinmelody : I'd definitey check all of the Necroart creations very soon! As we know Italy is a place  known for it's culture, arts etc, how would you describe the scene as in metal?

Max : -There was a scene in the early 2ks but now there are too many bands; once the so called "scene" was about date trading, fanzines and support but now There's more competition and a low friendship culture...but we have still so many friends in Italian Black/Death metal, bands like Handful of hate, mortuary Drape, Horrid and some others we're in contact and we all are trying to keep the flame burning as the old times...but it's so difficult.

Deathinmelody : Now that's a tough journey for a band I must say and I wish you all the best!.

Are you familiar with similiar acts Disarmonia Mundi or Neptune from your country?

Max : -I don't know them, I've only heard about these bands...but i think I think they play with passion as we do so we support them...of course!

Deathinmelody : I see. As we all know you have released three albums till now, from The Opium Visions to Lamma Sabactani, can you describe the progress and success regarding each album.

Max : - The last album is always the best for the artists but I'm really still in love with The opium visions because there was a great feeling in the band during the recordings of this album...well I really think that Opium and Lamma.. could be similar for the darkened and doped atmospheres...What about suicidal elite? That album came by a negative period in me as you can listen...there are good songs inside but I don't think that all of them sounds like Necroart

Deathinmelody : I see. I myself fell in love with The Opium Visions and specially, Le Fleur Noir. Amazing song!

How do you think Necroart brings novelty to the sound of traditional melodic death metal?

Max : - We Don't pretend absolutely to bring novelty...we've just tryied through the year to create some kind of black/death7doom metal that we'd like to listen in an album; including growls, atmospheres and killer riffs...yeah, of course we were involved also in folk music and that you can check in some of our songs but the words we used for long time "AVANTGARDE EXTREME Metal" were just a self called to include all our influences

Deathinmelody : Can you name any of your favorite songs from the songs you guys have wrote so far?
- Oh they change ever! By now I think that Necronova and A Visionary's trip from opium visions still sound smart, the title track of suicidal elite is a great song and of course all Lamma sabactani ahahahah

Deathinmelody : What is the philosophy behind the lyrics of Necroart?
- I write all the lyrics, and I'm really obsessed about death, desperation and depression; in the last times I'm also influenced by horror movies and esoteric stuff...I don't wanna write poetries 'cause I'm not a poet but I think my lyrics are straight to the heart of the reader.

Deathinmelody : We have something in common! hahaha!
Let's talk about serious stuff, as we know music industry, and specially the underground scene doesn't pump up much money. What's your view on crowd-funding?
Do you think it will bring some change to the scene?

Max: - Personally I don't accept crowd founding, but in times like these where selling albums and merch has become so difficult any band search its way to survive! we spent our job holidays for the last tours as also we spent the cachet of the tours for studios and merch because our label too feels the crisis of the music business! I know two or three bands that use crowd founding but I'm not involved in it...really, it's a fact of respect.

Deathinmelody : -Now that's a subject of contemplation I must say.

How do you deal with touring agents or labels who might expect you to commercialize your sound? Well that has been happening pretty much these days I guess.

Max : -No way man...Necroart are born independent and will die as independent! we write what we wanna write and what we think our fans and friends do expect from us...we're an underground band, we do not live with music, we all have a job and that permit us to remain genuine!

Deathinmelody: Now this is really something which will inspire many underground artists around the globe. What are your further plans with Necroart? Can we have any hint?

Max : - We're writing new stuff, when Davide our keyboard player left the band a couple of years ago, we decided to replace him with Riccardo that is not a common k-player; his instruments will bring to our song an esoteric aura and that will be the approach to the new stuff. We've two new songs ready that are named "An Invocation for the Horned" and "Tethragrammaton"...we're also searching for bands to partner for a split album or 7"

Deathinmelody: Name one word which may describe all of the Necroart songs in a nutshell.

Max: - "Honesty!" Indeed that's the better word we can use to describe our music and ourselves...you'll never hear a Necroart song that will sound as trendy shit we're just six metalheads trying to play our music!

Deathinmelody: Damn I am in some serious love with Necroart now haha!

Thank you for your time sir, it has been a real pleasure to talk with you, on the behalf of Deathinmelody team we wish you a prosperous metal life ahead.

Max: - I thank you from the deep of my heart! a big hugg to you...keep on with your good work and support undergound music! Cheers!

Cheers!
